Art Deco Trade

The glass that made Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848-1933) famous is a fusion of normal opalescent white glass and clear, antique-colored glass. At the beginning of the 20th century, the Tiffany Studios in New York were used to design the most beautiful lamps with this inventive glass, featuring various motifs, such as floral and animal designs, as well as geometric patterns. The lampshades were stunning when paired with the incandescent bulbs produced by his friend Thomas Edison. Not only were the glass shades crafted with such attention to detail, but the lamp bases were also works of art in their own right. These bases often had a shape that harmonized with the design of the glass shade, such as a branch with leaves, a tree trunk, a flower, or even a graceful lady. These beautifully organically shaped bases were often cast in bronze. Original Tiffany lamps are very popular today.
